Middle School Course Schedule
Core Classes
Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are required to take a Math, Social Studies, Science and English Language Arts class each year. These classes meet everyday for a full year and are 60 minutes long. These classes are referred to as “Core” classes. Students are assigned to a team of teachers who are responsible for teaching these courses and all teachers on a team share the same students.
Encore Classes
Students have three 40 minute class periods in their day for “Encore” classes. Encore classes are sometimes called “electives” or “specials” classes.
We use a point system to show how to build a student schedule. A student has a full encore schedule when they have 12 points. If you are curious about what is covered by different encore departments, please use the link below.

Students have the opportunity to take a second course from a department of interest. Students must take all of the 1-point courses allowed by their grade level before they will be enrolled in a “Going Deeper” Course.
