From sixth graders learning multi-digit addition to Eighth graders learning algebra, our mathematicians were at work this week!

FIRST cooking lab for the 8th grade life skills students! They had a budget of $1.25 per student and a list of pantry items to choose from. They had to stay in budget and create a meal with those ingredients! It was a major success!

Measuring mass, calculating volume and making predictions - our 8th graders spent time diving into density to start the year! Understanding density is step one as we prepare to explore Earth’s layers, plate tectonics, and many more topics in Earth Science.

So many amazing things happening at SPMS this week! From 6th grade mathematicians explaining their thinking, a guest in Agriculture who is running for National FFA Officer, healthy reminders of technology use, choirs singing in full force, and our XC team competing strong at their meet, students were succeeding every day in multiple capacities! #TogetherWeSoar 🦅👏🏼

Mia Breunig, the daughter of Todd and Mindy Breunig and an eighth grader at the Sauk Prairie Middle School, has been named the Sauk Prairie Optimist Middle Level Leader for September.

The Student Services Team, made up of Karli Schreiber, Heather Curtis, Meghan Leaf, Kyle Blechner, and Erick Blasing, nominated Mia for this award. Ms. Schreiber had this to say, “I nominated Mia because she has always stood out to me as a leader. Mia was a huge helper at Back to School Night at SPMS. She showed new students and families around the building to make sure the students knew where their lockers and classes were. Additionally, during the first week of school, I noticed her helping 7th graders find their classes when they seemed lost. Mia is also a very positive presence in our school community and does a wonderful job leading the student section at sporting events, especially at girls volleyball games!”

Mia is a shining example of dedication and involvement in Middle School Activities. As a 6th grade Mentor, a member of the Student Council, and a participant in the Sources of Strength group, she’s already making a difference. Beyond her academic pursuits, she embraces her creativity through the Musical and Show Choir. Athletically, she excels on the Middle School Volleyball and Basketball teams. If that weren’t enough, she also plays club volleyball and takes an active role in managing the High School Boys Basketball team.

Looking ahead, Mia's excitement for high school is palpable, but her vision extends even further. With aspirations to attend college at the UW and become a teacher, her future shines brightly. Mia is ready to chase her dreams!

An amazing surprise happened today for Mr. Pape as he was presented with a donation from one of his former students and athletes, and now Badger football player! Nolan Vils chose Mr. Pape as his "pick of the week" derived from the College Football Playoff Foundation. Needless to say he was quite surprised and our 6th grade teachers and students did a phenomenal job celebrating together! #TogetherWeSoar 🦅🔴⚪️🦡

7th grade teams worked together to build the tallest, freestanding structure that had the marshmallow at the top. The winning team’s tower was 26.75 inches. A solid plan, good communication and teamwork, understanding the importance of a strong foundation (not just in this challenge, but in many other aspects of life) and no matter what, you have to plan for the marshmallow (or obstacles that come your way). #TogetherWeSoar 🦅👏🏼
