The power of persuasion is strong with second grader Bennett! 💪✍️ As part of a writing lesson from our Amplify ELA curriculum, he crafted a compelling message to Principal Brehm, making a heartfelt case for soccer goals on the playground. ⚽️ His eloquence paid off—because who could say no to such a well-written request? Thanks to generous donations from our amazing school community, the goals became a reality! Today, Bennett, his friend, and his older brother even skipped the pre-spring break movie to help assemble them. Talk about dedication! As the saying goes, "It never hurts to ask." Congrats, Bennett, on using your voice to Amplify our outdoor space! 🎉 #TogetherWeSoar #MCS #AmplifyELA #StudentVoice #RecessRevamp

Can you squeeze an egg with one hand? MCS 4k students learned the answer is no. They tried with all their might but couldn't. Students then practiced cracking eggs into a bowl to help make scrambled eggs and ham for snack. The eggs magically turned green when Mrs. Gagnon started whisking them! It was a great week reading Dr. Seuss books, working on rhyming, and getting the quail eggs in the incubator.

Porcupine, bobcat, squirrels and birds, oh my! There were many tracks to observe with the temperature finally warm enough to explore. Students learned about how to identify the animal that made the tracks, which direction it was going, speed, and the age of the tracks. Amazing adventure! #spsdlearns #MerrimacCommunitySchool

Thanks to Sand County Foundation, students are winter sowing native prairie seeds. These seeds need to be winter stratified in order to germinate! Students also direct sowed the seeds they collected last fall from the pollinator bed into the prairie. #togetherwesoar
