
Learning is delicious! Oreos for moon phases, graham crackers for tectonic plates, quinoa from the Inca, and hot chocolate inspired by the Aztec and Mayan cultures. Students have enjoyed taste testing food from the stories and lessons!











Our first day back was a smashing success! Grade two completed their geology unit by cracking open geodes with The Sledgehammer of Science!









Merrimac students were out caroling in Sauk Prairie, Baraboo and Merrimac today spreading holiday cheer near and far! We wish you very happy holidays! Fa-la-la-la-la!











First grade is ready for the Thanksgiving Day parade after reading the book "Balloons Over Broadway" about the history of the Macy's parade! They made their own balloons and had a parade through classrooms! Wonderful!










"Community" service is in our name! Students decked the village planters with boughs and seasonal cheer! Enjoy them as you drive through town!

National Eat a Cranberry Day made for a tasty Cooking Time! Cranberry Pie and Harvest Bites featured Wisconsin agricultural products. Thanks to #AgInTheClaassroom for a great lesson about Christmas tree farms too!





Lintl's lab was full of Doctors today. We took insides out, did some operation, labeled the eyes and ears and let's not forget tried out some crutches. Thank you to the HSA for helping get supplies in order to create project based learning opportunities for students!











Experimenting with different building materials, first graders constructed pyramids to connect with curriculum!






Our barnyard project celebrates #AmericaRecyclesDay everyday by reducing food waste from our school! Thank you to Buttermilk Barn for donating the pumpkins!





Pumpkins and pollinators made for a perfect fall field trip! Kindergarten and grade two extended their science learning to Keller's Kornucopia. Bee hives and the pumpkin patch made for a great morning! Thank you for letting us pick a free pumpkin!

Service learning helps our community! Grade 2 cleaned out the village planters along highway 78 with the changing seasons. Great teamwork!

Kindergartners are using their knowledge of plants to grow wheat grass for the chickens and lettuce for the tortoise! Caring kids!








Grades 1 and 2 extended their Fairytales and Fables Unit to the Overture Center! A delightful show of Peter Rabbit was followed by a tour of the Ruth Culver Community Library and playtime by the Wisconsin River. Great day!











🌻 Science was in full bloom in Kindergarten! The parts of plants and their functions were easy to see in the school garden. We are growing our learning!

Community helpers are everywhere! MCS 4K students learned about librarians, postal workers, delivery drivers, teachers, and more this week. They had a great walking field trip to the Merrimac Fire and Ambulance Station. Thank you to Ms. Tina and Ms. Bailey for telling us what fire fighters and EMTs do!

Great views from the highest point in SW Wisconsin! Students hiked the Flintrock Trail at Blue Mounds State Park to learn more about limestone and chert. Ask your favorite student for details!
